Milton Keynes Young Musician of the Year Competition 2019
took place at The Venue MK on Saturday 16 March 2019
The Milton Keynes Young Musician of the Year competition is part of the annual Milton Keynes Festival of the Arts for Dance, Music and Drama, Milton Keynes' largest and longest-running annual festival of performing arts for amateurs of all ages and levels of ability and is sponsored by Kawai Pianos.

The eight young musicians selected to take part were:

George Garnett Vibraphone and marimba
Michael Lee Trumpet
Harry Scott-Burt 'Cello
Sebastian Foxwell Trumpet
The Young Musician event is a showcase for up to 8 performers chosen from that
year's music festival who are aged 18 or under and are selected by the committee and music festival adjudicators.
The 2019 competition showcased the above exceptional young musicians who all played a sophisicated programme enjoyed by all. Both judges were unanimous in their decisions and highly complimentary about each performers' playing.
Each performer was presented with a finalists' trophy, certificate and prize money and vibraphone and marimba player George Garnett was awarded the title of Milton Keynes Young Musician of the Year 2019.
'Cello player Harry Scott-Burt was awarded second place and joint third awarded to pianists Alex Wyatt and Naomi Bazlov, who was also awarded with the festivals gift of a £650 Chetham's Piano Summer School Bursary.
Congratulations to all performers for their winning performances.
Percussionist David Burkett gave a rousing performance of The Spirit of Radio by Rush whilst the judges deliberated and was awarded his finalists trophy.
Many grateful thanks to Kawai Pianos who generously provided one of their beautiful concert
grand pianos for our performers’ and accompanists’ use.
To be considered for the 2020 Young Musician showcase all you have to do is to enter our 2020 festival - syllabus will be downloadable in August 2019.
Entries must be received by 31 December 2019 latest.
